Medical Social Work
A diagnosis of cancer can result in major life adjustments for both you and your family. In these circumstances, social workers can help you to identify solutions that will help you and your family deal with your diagnosis and any problems that may arise as a result.
A social worker is assigned to each consultant's team within the St. Luke's Radiation Oncology Network.
The social work service is available to both inpatients and outpatients of St. Luke's and their families. We will work with you and your family throughout the course of your treatment.
The Social Work Service provides:
- Counselling and emotional support to you and your family.
- Help with planning your discharge from hospital and setting up support services in the community.
- Advocacy, mediation and information.
