MSc in Cancer Care / Haematology

The School of Nursing and Midwifery, in partnership with St. Luke's Hospital, Rathgar, offers an MSc in Cancer Care / Haemotology.

This programme has been developed to meet the new demands and challenges within the health care system and specifically within cancer care.  It is a 2 year programme.  The student can graduate after year one, qualifying with a Postgraduate Diploma in Cancer Care / Haematology, or they can proceed to year 2 which at the end they will receive a Masters in Cancer Care / Haematology.

The course is firmly grounded in a body of knowledge and clinical expertise that aims to promote excellence in the area of cancer care practice. It is also designed to provide an academically robust education for the participants and the various modules offered develop and complement subjects undertaken at degree or 'equivalent' level.

Breast Cancer Certificate Course

This course is aimed at qualified nurses who are involved in the care of patients with breast cancer or interested in pursuing a career in this field.

This programme is designed to provide the nurse with knowledge of breast cancer and the patient journey. The various treatment modalities including surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and hormone therapy are addressed.

The course deals with psychological issues experienced by breast cancer patients, supportive care for breast cancer patients and a palliative care component.

The course runs for 1 week. Cost 300 euro

Radiation Oncology Nursing Certificate Course - An Bord Altranais Approved, Category 1

This course has been designed to provide the registered nurse with a comprehensive understanding of the nursing assessment / interventions / evaluations and implications associated with caring for the patient undergoing radiotherapy.

The course runs for 4 days; Thursday and Friday over 2 weeks.

Date:              November 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th 2017 

Cost:              €300 

Venue:           Education Centre, St Luke's Hospital, Highfield Road, Rathgar, Dublin 6.
