St Luke's Radiation Oncology Network Increases Capacity for Cancer Treatment with Installation of Two New Radiotherapy Machines

The Award acknowledges the change to providing radiotherapy without tattoos. Traditionally small tattoos are used in radiotherapy to set patients up. SGRT technology allows departments to move away from using tattoos but involves a big change in set up techniques to do this.

The orthovoltage machine also known as a contact machine is ceiling mounted allowing for much more versatility when setting up and treating patients.

St Luke's Hospital installs most advanced radiotherapy equipment available leading to four hundred additional cancer patients being treated each year.
