SLRON Launch 5 Year Strategy 2022 to 2027

The resulting five year plan builds on our core values of innovation, excellence and our expertise in patient care, research and education.

SLRON are dedicated to being a leader in cancer treatment, research and education. This is SLRON’s first published strategy which will importantly help us prepare for and lead during a time of rapid innovation within the specialty of radiation oncology. Our fundamental aim is to provide the best quality in cancer care. This strategy was developed in collaboration with staff from across SLRON and our stakeholders.

Since opening our doors 65 years ago as St Luke’s Hospital and the development of St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network in 2010 we have developed a world class cancer centre with a proven track record of implementing new technologies and treatments to benefit our patients. SLRON and formally St Luke’s Hospital has provided education and training for a wide group of cancer specialties over the years including oncologists, nurses, therapists and physicists and see ourselves as the forefront of cancer education nationally.

The resulting five year plan builds on our core values of innovation, excellence, and our expertise in patient care, research and education.

To do this we identified 3 pillars of optimised cancer care all underpinned by the patient experience:

  • Finest cancer workforce
  • Education, research, technology and innovation
  • Strategic Partnerships and Impact on cancer strategy

“How we will get there” will include the following areas of focus

  • Research and innovation
  • Communicating impact
  • Our people
  • Quality improvement initiatives
  • Business intelligence.

These strategic priorities build on our experience and expertise and will continue to be informed and guided by our ambition to provide the very best treatment and care to our patients.
