    Dr Emma Connolly is a Consultant Radiation Oncologist at St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network (SLRON), based primarily at St James’s Hospital. She graduated with honours in Medicine from University College Dublin in 2012 and completed Basic Specialist Training in Medicine at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, obtaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 2016. She entered the National Radiation Oncology Specialist Training Programme in 2018 and was awarded Fellowship of the Faculty of Radiologists and Radiation Oncologists, RCSI, in 2021.

    In 2023, she undertook a clinical and academic fellowship at the Peter Mac Callum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, where she gained advanced experience in stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR), oligometastatic breast cancer and skin cancer management. During this time, she authored a prospective trial protocol for oligoprogressive hormone receptor positive breast cancer and contributed to the design of a phase III clinical trial, alongside a diverse portfolio of research projects. She has presented her work internationally, including at ESTRO, ASTRO, and the RANZCR Annual Scientific Meeting. Following completion of her fellowship, she returned to Ireland in 2025 to take up her current post as Locum Consultant Radiation Oncologist.

    Her current clinical practice focuses on the management of oligometastatic disease, lung cancer and oesophageal cancer. She has contributed to national cancer guideline development in both Ireland and Australia and has published across a range of disease sites. She hold additional qualifications in healthcare management (UCD Smurfit Business School) and Medical Law (Kings’ Inns).
