The following information pertains solely to laboratory services offered at St. Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar.
The pathology laboratory is located in a purpose-built facility towards the back of the hospital campus. An out of hours emergency on-call service is available, outside of routine hours, 365 days a year. Refer to the laboratory user manual for routine operational hours. Services are provided only to the patients of St. Luke’s Hospital.
The laboratory provides haematology, biochemistry and blood transfusion routine blood testing services. Requests received for tests other than those provided on-site are referred to approved referral laboratories.
Outlined below is a schematic of laboratory sample processing.
The time from phlebotomy to result reporting is referred to as the turn-around time (TAT). This can vary and is test dependent. The TAT for tests provided at St. Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar are outlined in the Pathology Laboratory User Manual linked below.
